Quinta da Atela, a 600-hectare property located in the municipality of Alpiarça, in the district of Santarém, and part of the Paul da Gouxa Nature Reserve, was bought in 2017, by the business couple Anabela Tereso and Fernando Vicente, with links to the farming sector. Anabela Tereso reinforced her commitment to wine production. Among the Portuguese grape varieties grown in the 150-hectare vineyard, Fernão Pires, one of the leading white grape varieties in Tejo wines, and Castelão, a vineyard that is more than 75 years old, stand out. A large part of the plantation dates back to the beginning of the 21st century. This is the case of the Chardonnay plot used to produce the award-winning wine. "It has three hectares and is located on sandy soils, typical of the Tejo heath, poor and well-drained, which favors the concentration of the grapes." Quinta do Atela also has three brands, in addition to special or limited editions. The property offers accommodation, as well as wine tastings, tours to explore the surrounding area, picnics in the middle of the vineyards, among other experiences.
